Hello subscribers! Here is another Meet the Editor for you all. This week’s featured editor is Cassidy Fontaine and she is in quite a few editorial positions this semester. She is a layout editor, assistant fiction/creative nonfiction editor, and copy editor. Here is some more about her:

Cassidy Fontaine is a junior at Lewis University, majoring in English with a  concentration in Writing, as well as minoring in Computer Science. She is also a writing tutor at the university’s Writing Center and an employee at her local park district. Outside of Lewis,  Cassidy participates in writing groups with the Community Writing Project. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, working out, reading, and writing. Some of her favorite authors are Gillian  Flynn, Terry Tempest Williams, and Michelle Alexander. Her work has appeared in Windows  Magazine.

Below is our Q&A with Fontaine:

-Who are you and what is your role in the Jet Fuel Review?

I am a junior at Lewis & I am a  layout editor, assistant fiction/creative nonfiction editor, and copy editor.

-What book might we find on your nightstand right now?

 Erosion by Terry Tempest Williams

-If you had the chance to co-write with one author, who would you choose? Why?

Anne Lamott. She recently was on an episode of Netflix show The Midnight Gospel, and it just made her much more personable even after reading her work. I think she would be insightful and hilarious to write with.

-Describe your perfect reading atmosphere.

Outside, under a shady tree, with warm weather &  only being able to hear birds chirping.

-What might your personal library look like?

A mix of fiction/horror novels, informative nonfiction books (about social justice or health), cookbooks, and poetry.

-If you could “re-make” a poorly written movie that was based on a book, what movie  would it be?

Critics hated the 2013 adaptation of the Great Gatsby. Personally, I loved that movie when it came out, and it had a great soundtrack. But now that I better understand the small details and the book’s deeper meanings, I think a “re-make” of the movie could capture the book’s details in a better light.

-What piece of literature can you reread over and over again?

Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë

-Give us a quote from your favorite (or any) book/movie.

“Likes Thai food, feminist prose, and angry girl music…”-10 Things I Hate About You

-If you were invited to have coffee with any fictional character, who would you most like to  meet? Why?

Jo March from Little Women, mostly because I love the book/movie & because she is also a writer.

-Share your top five favorite pieces of writing (anything included, be it movies, books, etc.).

Erosion by Terry Tempest Williams

“Two-Headed Calf” by Laura Gilpin

Into the Wild Jon Krakauer

Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Julia Child

“Think lightly of yourself and deeply of the world”- Miyamoto Musashi
