For our one and only “Meet the Bloggers” post for the semester, we are excited to show off the work of Ashna Sran. For Jet Fuel Review, Sran writes as a film blogger with a primary focus on women in pop culture. Ashna Sran is a senior at Lewis University, majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry. She was exposed to filmmaking and film criticism early on in high school and has stuck with it ever since. Currently, Ashna is involved in water remediation research in the Chemistry department, and she finds it very interesting. After getting her degree, Ashna wants to attend medical school and become a physician. She has wanted to become a doctor since she was very young, and she is very excited about the next stage in her life. In her spare time, she loves to watch movies and TV shows, listen to music, and spend time with her family and dog. Her favorite titles include Knives Out, The Haunting at Hill House, New Girl, and A Quiet Place. She tries not to limit herself to a genre, so she likes to watch all kinds of movies and TV shows. Ashna hopes to learn more about visual media while writing her blog and expanding her taste in movies and TV shows.

-Who are you and what is your role in the Jet Fuel Review?
I am a senior at Lewis University, and I am a film blogger focusing on women in pop culture
-What book might we find on your nightstand right now?
You’re Not Listening: What You’re Missing and Why It Matters by Kate Murphy
-If you had the chance to co-write with one author, who would you choose? Why?
Rick Riordan- my teen years wouldn’t have been complete without him
-Describe your perfect reading atmosphere.
On a comfortable chair in a warm, dimly lit room! Or under a tree on a sunny day.
-What might your personal library look like?
A small collection of trusted self-care and scientific books: I like to focus on self-improving and learning.
-If you could “re-make” a poorly written movie that was based on a book, what movie would it be?
Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief all the way!! The book was done a great injustice that made me really sad
-What piece of literature can you reread over and over again?
Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. For some reason, I love this book while all my friends hate it. However, I do not re-read books that often.
-Give us a quote from your favorite (or any) book/movie.

Janet from The Good Place. No explanation needed, she knows everything in the universe!
