Welcome back, everyone! We hope this past week has treated you well. Today we’d like to introduce the author of Lauren’s Etude to Eden: Lauren Lotarski. Lauren is a sophomore at Lewis University majoring in Psychology and English with a concentration in Literature and Language. She is also employed at the university library. In her free time, she likes to read, draw, knit, and consume general popular media like movies, TV shows, and video games. Some of her favorite authors are Leigh Bardugo, Charles Dickens, and Neil Gaiman. She hopes to improve upon her writing and knowledge of literature during her time at Lewis and apply it to her future endeavors.
-Who are you and what is your role in Jet Fuel Review?
My name is Lauren Lotarski, and I am a poetry editor and blogger for Jet Fuel Review.
-What book might we find on your nightstand right now?
I have been working on getting through Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo for a while now, but have had little time or drive to finish it. I also have the rest of her books on my TBR next to my bed. Hoping to get through them all by the end of the year!
-Describe your perfect reading atmosphere.
My perfect reading atmosphere is sitting in my gliding chair in the corner of my room with a cup of tea, preferably on a gloomy day while it is raining. It feels so peaceful and provides a good justification for sitting around and reading all day.
-What might your personal library look like?
I own a total of 3 bookshelves filled with all sorts of books, mainly consisting of YA fantasy and classics. Two of the shelves are organized by color and the other is alphabetical by author. I regularly rearrange them depending on my mood. There are also other books scattered around that do not fit on these shelves. If I were to guess, I probably own around 300 books. I definitely have more of a book obsession than a reading obsession, but I like being surrounded by books regardless of my current reading habits.
-What piece of literature can you reread over and over again?
Two books I could regularly reread are Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte and Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.
