Batule is currently attending Lewis University, where she is majoring in English with a concentration in Writing. She has a deep appreciation for the art of literature and language. Taking part in the field of English is a no brainer for her, as it feeds her soul like nothing else. Aside from reading and writing, she enjoys spending quality time with her friends and family. Watching movies, spending time outside, and roaming around looking for art to appreciate are some of the things she enjoys most when spending time with friends.

Who are you and what is your role in the Jet Fuel Review?

I am a prose editor as well as a marketing editor.

What book might we find on your nightstand right now?

Shakespeare & Disability Studies

If you had the chance to co-write with one author, who would you choose? Why?

Dr. Mardy Phillipan, I find him to have great insight about various important topics, often spoken about little. It would be an interesting experience I’m sure I’d learn a great deal from.

Describe your perfect reading atmosphere.

Perfect reading atmosphere is somewhere secluded, quiet, with dimmed lights and maybe some jazz playing in the background.

What might your personal library look like?

It would include non-fiction articles about the correlation between physical and mental health, the effects that spending time in nature has on our overall well being, and history books ranging from various global topics. Lastly, it would include poetry ranging from writers such as Edgar Allan Poe to Mahmoud Darwish.

If you could “re-make” a poorly written movie that was based on a book, what movie would it be?

I absolutely love Divergent; it is one of my favorite movies/book/series of all time. Though, the book was a much more enriching experience than the movie. And while that is typical, and one can argue that will be the case with any movie in comparison to its book- it’d be interesting to see what it would look like to see more depth be added.

What piece of literature can you reread over and over again?

Stephi Wagner’s poems

If you were invited to have coffee with any fictional character, who would you most like to meet? Why

I would like to meet Dr. Spencer Reid from Criminal Minds. It would be interesting to hear from him. He holds a lot of intelligence and I’d be curious to hear him speak about literature.

Share your top five favorite pieces of writing (anything included, be it movies, books, etc.)

“Pain Demands To Be Felt” – Stephi Wagner

“A Dream Within A Dream”  -Edgar Allan Poe

Divergent – Veronica Roth

Charlie and The Chocolate Factory– Roald Dahl

“I Come From There” -Mahmoud Darwish
