What book might we find on your nightstand right now?
The book you would find on my nightstand right now is The Song of Achilles. I tend to start a lot of books at a time but not finish them. So, hopefully this gets me out of that habit since I heard a lot of good reviews about it.
If you had the chance to co-write with one author, who would you choose? Why?
I don’t know if he can be classified as an author but he is a writer, Lin Manuel-Miranda. He is genuinely my favorite writer of all time and I could only dream to understand how his brain works.
Describe your perfect reading atmosphere.
My perfect reading atmosphere would be me laying on my living room couch on a rainy afternoon. The AC would be blasting and I would be wrapped in a fluffy blanket, drinking hot lemon water.
What might your personal library look like?
My personal library consists of random mangas I collected during quarantine, A couple of romance books that have made my heart flutter, and numerous novels that I told myself I would finish reading months ago.
If you could “re-make” a poorly written movie that was based on a book, what movie would it be?
If I could “re-make” a poorly written movie that was based on a book it would be After because people who don’t understand how iconic fanfiction is are probably thinking it’s the worst form of literature. This is due to the fact that the worst movies come out of them. As someone who grew up reading way too much fanfiction I feel like I could do it justice.
What piece of literature can you reread over and over again?
A piece of literature I can reread over and over is Lord of the Flies because it blew my mind when I was reading it in my high school English class. Just imagine a bunch of young boys crash land on an abandoned island and their attempt to create civilization turns some of them into maniacs. I just think it says a lot about morals and how quickly the human brain can change when it wants to survive.
Give us a quote from your favorite (or any) book/movie.
“I am the one thing in life I can control,” which is a quote from the musical Hamilton by Lin Manuel- Miranda. In a world full of chaos that may leave you feeling helpless you must prioritize yourself and make decisions that align with your values.
If you were invited to have coffee with any fictional character, who would you most like to meet? Why?
A fictional character I would invite to coffee with me would be Holden Caulfield from The Catcher in the Rye. I feel like he and I relate on numerous topics and would be able to talk about anything and everything for hours. Also, because he is pretty lonely and constantly talks to himself, I think a friend to talk to would be a nice change for him.
