Who are you and what is your role in the Jet Fuel Review?

I’m Clare Carey and I am an Assistant Poetry Editor.

What book might we find on your nightstand right now?

The book you might find on my nightstand is Holes by Louis Sachar.

If you had the chance to co-write with one author, who would you choose? Why?

If I had the chance to co-write with one author, I would you choose my favorite author that I grew up with and that is Mary Pope Osborne.  She wrote the Magic Tree House books.  The reason I chose her is because she inspired me to write my own books.

Describe your perfect reading atmosphere.

My reading atmosphere is nothing big, small and simple, I do read anywhere.

What might your personal library look like?

My personal library is small because it has some books from when I was little, I have a shelf of books in my closet inside of my room. They are mostly children’s books.  I kept these because I study early childhood education.

If you could “re-make” a poorly written movie that was based on a book, what movie would it be?

The movie I would choose to re-make is The Ant Bully. The movie had issues, but it had potential to be good so I would make a few changes to make it better.

Give us a quote from your favorite (or any) book/movie.

My favorite quote is from the Wizard of Oz when Dorothy says, “there’s no place like home”. I love that quote because it’s a true statement.

If you were invited to have coffee with any fictional character, who would you most like to meet? Why?

The fictional character I would choose to have coffee with would be CatWoman. This is because she’s my favorite character and we can talk about many things we have in common.

Share your top five favorite pieces of writing (anything included, be it movies, books, etc.).

My top five favorites are pieces of writing are Holes by Louis Sachar, The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Magic Tree House by Mary Pope Osborne, and Indiana Jones by Steven Spielberg .
