Good evening, blog readers! And welcome to another round-up of posts here at the Jet Fuel Review’s blog. I hope that you’re enjoying the summer, no matter what the weather is like where you are. Before we go on, here is a quick reminder about the latest issue of the Jet Fuel Review. The fifth issue is still around and it’s packed with awesome art, poetry, fiction, and non-fiction from very talented writers and artists. A few weeks back we had a Writing Advice post that tackled the tough topic of dialogue. According to a post from the Creative Writing Collective, a good way to make your characters sound like they’re really conversing is to have them do things as they talk. Check out the post and give it a try! The Discussion post that week covered the most anticipated books of 2013′s second half, which was compiled by The Millions blog. Lucas wrote a post about Upton Sinclair’s experiments on his psychic wife, which is a very interesting read. And we featured two poems by Hadara Bar-Nadav, an author who has been featured in the Jet Fuel Review in past issues.
This past week, the Writing Advice post turned away from the words you type and focused instead on where you write them. Yes, your writing space was the topic of discussion and I expounded on the virtues of a good chair. Our Community Discussion turned to yet another Awesome Literary Thing out there in the world — a bookstore in a train car. It’s really something to see! And the featured poem this week was The Essay, by Brian Culhane.
