Hello Readers and welcome back!
This week we are going to be talking about Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson. Our main character Amy has spent the last three months alone in her house in California because her mother decided she wanted to move to Connecticut and her mother has been out there getting everything settled. It is Amy’s job to get the car from California to Connecticut, the only problem, Amy doesn’t drive. Ever since her father’s death in a car accident Amy hasn’t driven, thus enters old family friend Roger. Roger has to take a cross-country trip to see his father for the summer. Both Amy and Roger have baggage of their own and they don’t know it yet but they might be just what the other needs. As old friends, which is just code words for someone you use to have playdates with when you were a child and are now mostly strangers, become more the trip takes some unexpected turns. A trip that was supposed to last a couple of days lasts a little longer than that, as Amy and Roger have some exploring to do. California to Connecticut with many a stop in-between makes this trip one epic detour.
Morgan Matson explores the loss of a loved one and new love all in one book. From California to Kansas to good old Tennessee, this trip is about so much more than miles, Matson flawlessly guides you across country while at the same bringing you though the emotions it takes to heal. Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour is a good easy read for a lazy weekend sitting by the fire and drinking hot coco.
