Hello, blog readers! I hope that you’re enjoying those last few hours of relaxation before the new week begins. Here at the blog, we’re getting ready for a new week of content. But first it’s time to look back and see what we’ve been talking about in recent weeks. I also want to remind you all that the Jet Fuel Review‘s current submission period is still open! If you’re interested in submitting to our next issue, you can check out our submissions page. You can send in your poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and art until March 15th.
In terms of writing advice, we here at the blog have been talking about forgetting how to write and the art of writing a synopsis. Writing a synopsis can be a difficult task, but it can also be an important one as you attempt to pitch your story to family, friends, or a literary agent. Sometimes spending time away from projects or being too busy to write can cause us to “forget” how to write. If you’re experiencing this right now, or have experienced it in the past, come and join the discussion! We have also recently featured some poets and their poems here on the blog. Be sure to check out Proem and The Weary Blues by Langston Hughes, as well as A. in September by Kathleen Ossip.
We’ve also seen some new posts from the Jet Fuel film bloggers. Mike Egan wrote about Marvel’s acquisition of Spider-Man and what that means for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Miguel Gonzalez wrote about the versatility that Jake Gyllenhaal has shown in some of his newer film roles.
Of course, the Jet Fuel editors have also been writing for the blog. Dominique Dusek started her new blog series, “Before They Were Famous,” with a profile on Stephen King. Be sure to check that out to learn more about the very well-known author. Sabrina Parr continued her book corner posts with two new reviews — Cinder and How to Ditch Your Fairy. Check out those posts if you’re looking for something new to read! Kelly Lyons continued her “Book Bucket List” with Fahrenheit 451.
In addition, Michael Cotter, the Assistant Poetry Editor at the Jet Fuel Review, began a new series called “What Are You Watching?” In his first two posts, Michael reviewed Eye Candy, a new show on MTV, and The Last Five Years, a new film starring Anna Kendrick.
