Hello, blog readers! Well, I did say things would be quieter around the blog, didn’t I? Even though most of our bloggers are taking a well-deserved summer break, we’ve still had some new content here at the blog in recent weeks. We’ll get to that in a moment. In the past few weeks, I’ve posted a few new installments of Writing Advice. First, I wrote about using reading as a productive escape from your daily writing habits. If you don’t feel like writing one day, try turning to a book instead of turning to Netflix. Check out the post for more! Next, I wrote about ideas for a checklist you can use when editing your next writing project. Sometimes a checklist or list of guidelines can help you accomplish more in your editing endeavors. Check out the post if you think it’ll help you. I also wrote about Chuck Paluhniak’s advice regarding “thought verbs.” I think this is a really great piece of advice, so be sure to check out the post!
We’ve also continued to feature new poetry here on the blog. These include So Legged, So Footed, and Who’s Left to Care? by Allison Hutchcraft, Passing Palmers Green Station by Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin, and Parable by Sandra Beasley.
Finally, Michael Lane, a blogger who wrote for us this past semester, has begun a whole new series of posts for the summer. Michael has been exploring the HBO series, “Tales from the Crypt” season by season. So far, he has written an introduction to the series as a whole, a complete review of season 1, and a complete review of season 2. Michael has been making some great observations about this short-lived show and its value as a horror program. Check out those posts if you’re interested in “Tales from the Crypt.” You might even find something new to watch on these hot summer days.
