The weekend is here! Whoo! And with the weekend comes another one of our new editors for you to meet. This week we have our Assistant Marketing & Development Editor, Nicole Reidy.
Nicole is currently a senior at Lewis University. She is majoring in social work and has a minor in psychology. She is the Assistant Marketing & Development Editor and the Assistant Nonfiction Editor. She is thrilled to take on these positions because this was not an opportunity she thought she would have. Introduction to Creative Writing sparked her interest in how writing can be used to express your emotions and thoughts in ways she thought were impossible. At Lewis University, she has been involved in several leadership opportunities and loves to be involved. In her free time, you can find her watching her favorite game shows, finding new coffee shops to explore, keeping up to date on social work-related information, volunteering, and spending time with her family.

Who are you and what is your role in the Jet Fuel Review?
My name is Nicole Reidy and my roles for Jet Fuel Review are Assistant Marketing & Development Editor and Assistant Nonfiction Editor.
What book might we find on your nightstand right now?
The book you might find on my nightstand is my social work textbook. I love learning and absorbing knowledge of how to assist others
If you had the chance to co-write with one author, who would you choose? Why?
If I was able to co-write with one author it would be Mitch Albom. He wrote Tuesdays with Morrie, and that is such an inspirational book on how to live life to the fullest without complaining about life’s troubles.
Describe your perfect reading atmosphere.
The perfect reading atmosphere is dim lighting with another light right over my head so my attention is on the book. I love reading in my room and on my comfy purple couch!
What might your personal library look like?
My personal library would include books of mystery, comedy and love. Of course, there would be some social work books as well. I love social work and want to expand my knowledge as much as possible. Most of all, the books would be about life — all of the ups and downs, and how to cherish every moment and realize that you can do anything you put your mind to.
What piece of literature can you reread over and over again?
A piece of literature I can re read over and over again is Tuesdays with Morrie. The book is highly intricate and each time I read it, I learn something new.
Give us a quote from your favorite (or any) book/movie.
My favorite quote from a movie would have to be: “You still have a lot of time to make yourself be what you want. There’s still lots of good in the world.” That is from the amazing movie, The Outsiders.
If you were invited to have coffee with any fictional character, who would you most like to meet? Why?
If I was invited to have coffee with any fictional character it would have to be Sadness from Inside Out. I basically want to see her smile, and if that doesn’t work, then hopefully coffee and some funny jokes can do the trick until she can become Joy #2.
Share your favorite pieces of writing (anything included, be it movies, books, etc.).
My favorite pieces of writing are Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom, The Five People you Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom, and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl.
