Happy Sunday, readers! I hope your weekends have been wonderful thus far. It has been a few weeks, so it’s time to catch up with what’s been posted on the blog recently. First, a quick update on the Jet Fuel Review. The current reading period is now closed and our editors are hard at work reading submissions. The 11th issue of the Review will be released on April 21st. While you’re waiting, be sure to check out all of our previous issues. Now — onto the posts!
In the world of writing advice, two new posts have gone up. First, I wrote about constructing strong foundations for your story. Next I wrote on the topic of theme and how to determine your story’s theme. We have also featured several poems here in recent weeks. These include Variations to the Accompaniment of a Cloud by W.S. Merwin, as well as Cave Image and Sound and Quiet by Debra Nystrom.
If you’re looking for something new to listen to, look no further than our weekly Spotify playlists and the Infinite Canvas podcast. You have three new playlists from which to choose, and there are four new episodes of the podcast. You can learn about this year’s C2E2, season 2 of Daredevil, the new Batman vs. Superman movie, or a medley of comic-related news.
New film reviews from Michael Lane include 10 Cloverfield Lane, Batman vs. Superman, and Pee Wee’s Big Holiday. If you’re curious about any of these films, be sure to read Michael’s reviews before making your viewing decisions.
Our resident music blogger, Jake Johnson, has recently written two new reviews. First, he reviewed I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It, the new record from The 1975. He then reviewed This is What the Truth Feels Like from Gwen Stefani.
Haley Renison, our Assistant Poetry Editor and Assistant Special Section Editor has begun a new series called Poetic Playlist. Haley has already written two new posts for this series, one about Airborne Toxic Event’s “Sometime Around Midnight,” and one about Halsey’s “Gasoline.”
Katelyn Bittke, a former editor for the Jet Fuel Review, has also begun a new series about travel. Her first post was about how to pack reading material for a trip. Her latest post was about managing expectations on a trip to Spain.
Finally, we’ve posted two Meet the Editors features recently. One featured Gina Capperino, our Assistant Blog Editor. Another featured Nicole Reidy, our Assistant Marketing & Development Editor.
