It’s Friday again, so that means we have another Meet the Editors post. This is actually our last new editor for the semester! Today we are introducing Jacqueline Nelson, who is working with us this semester as our Art & Design Editor.
Jacqueline is a computer graphic design major at Lewis University. This is only her second semester at Lewis, but she already feels at home. She is 22, but 35 in spirit. Somehow, she is both the tallest and the youngest in her family. She loves finding new places to explore with friends, especially in Chicago. Art and design has always fascinated her, and has been a part of her life for as long as she can remember. (Throwback to the KLUTZ craft books, y’all!) Her goal is to translate this passion into her work with the Jet Fuel Review.

Who are you and what is your role in the Jet Fuel Review?
My name is Jacqueline Nelson, and I am the Art & Design Editor at Jet Fuel Review.
What book might we find on your nightstand right now?
Jump by Steve Harvey or my Bible. Hahaha!
If you had the chance to co-write with one author, who would you choose? Why?
I would love to write with Zora Neale Hurston because her unique use of imagery and tone is incredible!
Describe your perfect reading atmosphere.
Me + fuzzy blanket + sweatpants + complete silence + deep armchair with great cushions and back support + TONS of natural reading light = READING HEAVEN.
What might your personal library look like?
My personal library would likely look like a mash-up of great poets (new and old), a handful of literary classics, a set of anthologies of African-American literature, with complete collections of the work of Maya Angelou and Zora Neal Hurston, tons of books on self-care and faith, and the rest would probably be manga!
If you could “re-make” a poorly written movie that was based on a book, what movie would it be?

I don’t have a fictional dream date, but I would love to spend a coffee date (or better yet an entire day) with Cicely Tyson!

I’m going to completely change this question, because choosing my favorite literature was proving too difficult a task! So here’s a list of movies that, while not necessarily my favorite, I could (and do) watch over and over and over and still enjoy:
- The Mummy
- Coming to America
- Legally Blonde
- Mean Girls
- War Room
(I have no shame whatsoever)
